Land Use Planning
The Yukon Chamber of Mines is dedicated to a fair and balanced approach to land use planning in the territory - founded on inclusion, appropriate levels of protection and the co-existence of all land uses.
The existence and survival of the mining and exploration industry depend on the ability to access, evaluate and - if successful in making a discovery - potentially develop public lands and resources.
Strict regulatory and legislative processes provide oversight mitigation measures for the activities of the Yukon mining industry that are designed to ensure the appropriate consideration of environmental, social, cultural and economic values.
In addition, the Yukon boasts statutory and mandatory requirements for reclamation.
The Yukon is divided into eight land use planning regions.
