Mining in Movember
Males represent approximately 75 per cent of the mining industry workforce and Movember is an excellent time for the industry to communicate the importance of male health issues.
During November each year, and officially for the first time at the Yukon Geoscience Forum, Movember is responsible for the 'sprouting of moustaches' on thousands of men's faces throughout the country and around the world to raise awareness and funds for prostate and other cancers that typically affect males.
Various awareness and fundraising initiatives will take place throughout this year's Yukon Geoscience Forum from the 'Movember Wall of Fame' in the Trade Show entrance to a Beard Shaving and Moustache Contest.
Proceeds will benefit Prostate Cancer Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society - BC/Yukon Region.
Details include:
Silent Auction to benefit prostate cancer research (at Yukon Zinc's Trade Show booth throughout Geoscience).
'Best & Worst Moustache Contest' fundraiser at the Trade Show 3 pm nutrition break (Monday, November 19).
'Shaving Yukon Beards to Yukon Moustaches' fundraiser to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society BC/Yukon Region at the Trade Show 3 pm nutrition break (Tuesday, November 20).
